A WANDERLUST WEEK IN ISLAND OF GODS - BALI

a wonderlust week in bali

So, where is Bali? Bali is one of the numerous islands that glows up Indonesia, and it's one of the most popular tourist destinations in Indonesia.

Beginning around 1960, the island has step by step developed from a calm, segregated, and distant little island, into one of the world's most well-known travel destinations.

About Bali:

Bali is a religious country that gives a great deal of significance to its tradition and customs. Ensure you don't outrage them in any way on your trip to Bali. Wealthy, natural beauty, culture, and history, this beguiling Indonesian island has something for everybody. From mountain towns and paddy fields to sanctuaries and seashores - the quintessence of Bali is caught in these wanderlust trips on the Island Of Gods.

Bali is one of the most famous islands in the Indonesian archipelago. The island is home to an ancient culture that's known for its warm cordiality. The Indonesian Bali is nicknamed the "Island of the Gods" for many good reasons. The glorious temples, unique culture, beautiful beaches, exciting water sports, adventurous night scenes, and stunning scenery could easily fall in love with Bali.

Bali Map & Location:

Bali is a popular holiday destination and many people have heard of it, but some people still ask where is Bali?

Bali is the Island of Indonesia and its situated 8 degrees from the equator, in the Java Sea. Bali is a province of Indonesia and is approximately 153km wide and 112km high with a total land area of approximately 5,780 sq. km.

Bali's location is 4555km from Australia and is situated in between Indonesia's islands of Lombok and Java.
Denspar is Bali's largest and capital city and it's located in the southern part of Bali.

Climate & Language In Bali:

The best time to come to Bali is between April to October just before peak season. Bali experiences only two seasons the Rainy and Dry seasons. Throughout all year, the daytime temperature is between the mid-80s to low 90s with slightly less humid, the room prices or villa rentals can be 30-50% cheaper than peak seasons. The lack of rain during the summer seasons makes Bali more comfortable for beach lovers.

You can wear anything in Bali as long as it's not offending anyone. Boardshorts and tank tops or tees for the boys and a wavy dress or jeans shorts with a top for girls. Sarongs and Palazzos serve the same purpose. Bikinis and shorts are commonly preferred on beaches. However, the locals become strict when it comes to visiting temples in Bali. Both men and women need to be fully covered and wear a local dress.

The most common language used on the island is Bahasa Bali and Bahasa Indonesian. Most people in Balinese are bilingual and speak both this language, some are fluent in English.

Taking a 7 day trip to Bali might seem stressful, but with a good plan & strategy, a week is enough to visit Bali and its main places. So let the trip begin.

The Best Bali 7 Day Itinerary:

DAY 1: Arrive In Bali And Beginning Of 7 Day Bali Trip

DAY 2: Ubud Surroundings, And Tegalalang Rice Terraces

DAY 3: Sunrise At Mt. Batur. One Of  Mesmerizing Point In Bali

DAY 5:  Eastern Temples Of Bali - Besakih, Tirta Gangga, And Lempuyang

DAY 6: Jimbaran And Uluwatu

DAY 7:  Famous Cities & Market Tour. End Of A Bali Trip.

By following this itinerary, you'll have the option to do the majority of significant activities in Bali. We'll let you know which different attractions you can visit consistently in Bali.

DAY 1 -  Arrive In Bali, Explore Ubud:

Bali has been on the list of almost everyone from solo travelers to a couple of travelers. This Indonesian island offers you a spectacular gem. You can come to Bali via Flight, Road, and Ship. Ngurah Rai International Airport or Denspar International Airport is located in South Denspar, the capital of Bali. You can take a Bus from the Jakarta capital of Indonesia to Bali, but only if you survive a 23hour long bus journey. For a Ship take a flight to Singapore, Sumatra, or Java and enjoy a journey through the ocean towards Bali.

You only need to book a transfer to Ubud from the airport, which only takes 45 minutes. Rest of the places I recommend visiting by foot by which you get to know the culture of Bali and become comfortable with the atmosphere.

On your first day trip visit one of the beautiful places
Ubud. Start from the main street Jalan Raya Ubud and go from east to west. Visit Puri Saren Agung, Ubud Traditional Art Market, where you can buy the best souvenirs of Bali.

Following Raya Ubud Street, you will find the Pura Taman Saraswati, a must-see in Ubud. Returning from Raya Ubud Stree, at the corner of the Art Market, the Jl. Monkey Forest street leads to the Sacred Monkey Forest, one of the most vital places in Bali.

TIP :
  • Bali taxi drivers are well known for ripping tourists off. Pre-book a discounted airport transfer from the airport to your accommodation to avoid scams.
  • There are many currency exchanges across the island but it's best to exchange your currency to IDR right at the airport.
  • Grab a 4G sim card or pocket wifi for pickup at the airport to make traveling easier. You need a better internet connection on your one-week Bali trip.

DAY 2 - Ubud Surrounding, Tegalalang Rice Terraces. One Of The Top Places To Visit In Bali:

On the second day of your one-week Bali tour, I recommend visiting the surroundings of Ubud. Go to Tegalalang Rice Terraces, without a doubt, the most popular and one of the most beautiful places to visit in Bali. The area is found about a half-hour from North Ubud town center. A truly awe-inspiring sight, the beautiful green rice paddies stretch on for what seems like an eternity. You can enjoy the view from the top but it's also possible to hike down and walk up on the other side again. I definitely recommend hiking down.

Tirta Empul
is one of the important temples in Bali. You can also visit this after Tegalalang, Balinese go there to purify their souls using the sacred water that flows through 12 pipes. Nearby to that temple also visit Candi Tebing Gunung Kawi Temple, comprising a collection of ancient 'Candi' or shrine reliefs carved directly into the face of a rock cliff, one of the most unique and archeological places in Bali.

After doing lunch in the afternoon, you can also visit the Goa Gajah or Elephant Cave, a must-visit place in one week of the Bali tour. There you can enter a grotto through the jaws of an evil monster. The left entry contains a little specialty with a sculpture of Ganesh, the Hindu divinity suggestive of an elephant. And the right section holds a little love region with a few stone lingam and yoni out of appreciation for Shiva.

DAY 3 - Sunrise At Mt. Batur. One Of The Mesmerizing Point In Bali:

On your third day trip, I suggest doing one of the most adventurous activities in Bali, and that is to climb the Mt. Batur Volcano and see the epic sunrise from its summit. This is going to be one of the best experiences on your one-week Bali Trip. Your guide will pick you up early at 3 - 4 am depending on where you book your tour. It's not a very tough trek so you can complete it with a mid-fitness level.

And finally, when you are at top of Mt. Batur you will see the sunrise behind Mt. Agung, and this gorgeous sunrise was definitely worth not sleeping at night. The Mt. Batur tour will take your whole day, but if you have some energy then at last you can go to
Campuhan Ridge Walk, famous for its mellow hiking trails & sweeping hilltop views.

DAY 4 - Ulun Danu Bratan An Iconic Temple:

Ulun Danu Bratan Temple is locally also known as Pura Ulun Danu Beratan and is also called a Floating Temple because it is located on the water of lake Bratan, and the Handara Gate. The mountains enclosing this area give it a mesmerizing view, fantastic touch and make this sanctuary a hot spot for photographers and travelers. The awesome scenery and charm beauty of this temple can make anyone feel hypnotized and fall in love.

Visiting the Pura Ulun Danu Bratan Temple is depend on an entrance fee of 50,000 IDR per person for an adult and 25,000 IDR per person for the child. Take some cash with you because you have to give it there in Indonesian Rupiah (IDR). The visiting time to a temple is from
8:00 AM to 5:00 PM

DAY 5 - Tirta Gangga, Besakih, And Pura Penataran Agung Lempuyang Temple:

So, on your fifth day, visit the eastern temples of Bali like Tirta Gangga, Besakih, and Pura Penataran Agung Lempuyang Temple. Get up early and head to Mother Temple popularly known as Pura Besakih.

Pura Besakih Temple

It's one of the largest temples in Bali, you need all day to see it. But we have to see other places too. So from Pura Besakih next temple was Tirta Gangaa. This royal place is noted for the Karangasem royal water palace, tropical gardens, bathing pools, and its fountain or ponds.

Lempuyang Temple

And our last place of day five on one week of Bali was
Pura Penataran Agung Lempuyang Temple. It's a Hindu temple located on the slope of Mount Lempuyang in Karangasem Bali. You need to store some energy because you need to climb many stairs. In the temple from Gates of Heaven, you get one of the best views of Agung Volcano. Definitely, your fifth day was ending with some gorgeous views in Bali.

DAY 6 - Visitng Jimbaran And Uluwatu:

Start your morning of day six by visiting the Jimbaran Bali. Jimbaran is a fishing village that has a long beach with calm water. This area stands out for its amazing white sand beaches, and its cliffs.

In the afternoon, before the sunset visit the
Uluwatu Temple. The name Uluwatu comes from Ulu, which means 'Land End', and Watu means 'Rock'. At this temple Kecak Fire and Trance dance performances also take place, if it's your first time in Bali then you definitely need to see it. From there you can see one of the best sunsets on the island.

DAY 7 - Famous Cities & Market Tour:

On your last day of wanderlust week in Islands Of Gods, I recommend you to visit the most tourist area in Bali. You can't leave Bali without seeing some famous markets and city areas like Seminyak, Kuta, and Canggu

You can visit the southern cities of Bali like
Seminyak which offers you the best luxury hotels, villas, Spa, and Restaurants. Also, Kuta is a resort or beach area in the southern part of Bali, which is famous for its party-centric atmosphere and surfing in the Indian Oceans. And lastly, Canggu is a resort village in Bali surrounded by terraced rice paddies and known for beaches like Canggu, and Echo with strong surf.

And on your last evening in Bali, do some shopping on Islands Of Gods for some memories from your one-week Bali trip. Pasar Ubud also is popularly known as 'Pasar Seni Ubud', It's one of the most famous markets in Bali. You can get lots of stuff from here like handmade woven bags, baskets, silk scarves, hats, and lots more.
