About Chikhaldara: 

Chikhaldara a Captivating Hill Station of Vidarbha. The region Chikhaldara is a wildlife paradise for nature lovers. Chikhaldara is a hill station situated in the district of Amravati, at a distance of 87 km and an average elevation of 3898 ft. This region is about 1098 m above sea level and it's a coffee plantation area in Maharashtra. 

A very interesting story has been hidden behind Its name, Hindu Mythology asserts that the area of Chikhaldara was administered by King Kichak, who was at least killed by the powerful Bheema, One of the most powerful in Pandavas, who later threw him in a deep valley and that's how Chikhaldara got its name, means where Chikhal is a replication of word Kichak and Dara means deep valley.  
  
Chikhaldara is a wildlife heaven tourist place in Vidarbha. This place is filled with a full of Flora & Fauna that excited any nature or wildlife lover. This place has no wild animals like nearly 82 tigers with almost the same no of leopards. It also has nearly 1800 Indian gaurs, 200 sloth bears, and lots of herbivore animals. 1. Bhimkund (Kichakdari) :

Bhimkund offers a splendid view of the nearby landscape and other waterfalls when it comes out in the rainy season, the scene is wonderful in the monsoon. About Bhimkund's old mythological saying is that Bhim killed Kichaka and threw him in this valley, and it get the name Kichakdara, but then he took a bath in the nearby lake, and from there it was called 'Bhimkund'. The depth of Bhimkund can't be measured correctly but it's up to 3500 ft deep. Locals observed the water level of Bhimkund rise to 30 m when the Tsunami hit the shoreline in 2004. 

2. Panchbol Point :

The Panchbol Point has a scenic view, it's one of the famous spots in Chikhaldara located around 4 km away from Bir Lake. This point gives a panoramic view of the surroundings. Five hills that come close together form a big valley where you can hear an Echo sound. The Panchbol Point has derived its name for, if you shout out anything then you can hear echo back to back five times, that's why its Panchbol Point. Come with your families or friends to enjoy this cool point. 

3. Devi Point :

Devi Point is one of the most visited and famous places in Chikhaldara. Devi Point captures a scenic beauty around it, It's near Shakkar lake and just 1.5 km away from Chikhaldara. There is a temple of Mahadev, inside a huge stone, like a cave. People come here to pray and enjoy the sightseeing beauty. There is also fun activity at this place like horse riding, camel riding, etc. Devi Point is the main source of the Chandrabhaga River which meets the Purna River on Downside.

Mozari Point offers a great scenic view of the whole valley, Mozari Point is next to Mozari MTDC Resort. Awesome place for Sunrise & Sunset and it's also must visit in Rainy season because all surrounding is filled with clouds like you are in clouds.  

5. Hariken Point :

Haricane Point is awesome and a very nice spot to visit. It's one of the best points in Chikhaldara. You can visit two places here first is the public garden overlooking the valley and second is the Police wireless guest house high point, both offers a great view. An early morning visit to this place with fog & clouds catches a great vibe.

6. Shakkar Lake :

Shakkar Lake is also known as Sugar Lake. It's located near Devi point and at a distance of around 1.5 km from the local bus stand of Chikhaldara, also on the way to Gawilgarh fort. The water from this lake is used for the water supply office by Maharashtra Jeevan Pradhikaran. Tourists also enjoy here speed boats, pedal boats, and scooter boats. 

7. Museum :

Chikhaldara has two Museums. One of them is related to Forest Garden is Maharashtra Forest Ranger's College, and another is related to Tiger Project and Wildlife is Melghat Tiger Project. The Maharashtra Forest Ranger College Museum consists of a wide range of samples of various wild animal species and plants that are available for visitors to see. It's s house of some rare fossils. A must to take a visit to Museums when you are in Chikhaldara.  

8. Sunset Point :

If you want to end your beautiful trip with awesome sunset, then you must have to visit Sunset Point In Chikhaldara. Sunset Point is located on the Vairat hills at Vairat. Vairat village is situated nearly about 10km from Chikhaldara. This Viewpoint offers a beautiful view of sunset settling with numerous nearby hillsides.

9. Sipna River :

Sipna River is one of the most beautiful and streamy rivers of Semadoh. And yes, it's one of my fav places in Chikhaldara.  It's the most beautiful river I had seen in my life. When you are going from Semadoh to Sankul you will find a beautiful spot on Sipna River where you can take a break from your journey and enjoy a tea or coffee with a beautiful view of the river, with enjoying the floating sound of the river. In Monsoon this place is nothing less than a wonderland for nature lovers. 

  10. Gawilgad Fort :

Gawilgad Fort is one of the best religious forts to visit in Chikhaldara. Gawilgad fort was a well-fortified mountain stronghold of the Maratha Empire in the vicinity of Melghat Tiger Reserve. This fort has a few engravings in Persian recording the date of the structure of every one of its seven doors. It has two water tanks Devtalav & Khantalav, which are a primary source of water in case the fort was besieged. This fort has a history of 300 years.
